The Onboarding Wizard is not just a setup screen — it is a data-gathering engine that trains the AI on your store’s specific identity, products, and market positioning. Skipping or rushing through it will degrade the quality of every AI output.

Step-by-step Breakdown

Step 1 — Store Info

You provide your store name, admin email (used for lead capture and handoff notifications), and an optional WhatsApp or phone number. Setting up your store profile helps SalesBuddy AI know who it’s working for.

Step 2 — API Config

Select your preferred AI Provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, OpenRouter, or Custom Endpoint) and enter your API key. The plugin will validate the key by making a test connection. If you don’t have a key yet, you can use the limited built-in SalesBuddy AI API key to get started.

Step 3 — Store Scan & Catalog Indexing

SalesBuddy AI scans your entire WooCommerce catalog and builds a local semantic index. This helps the AI understand your products, identify SEO gaps, and prepare intelligent sales pitches for your chatbot. The scan runs in the background and may take a few moments depending on the size of your catalog.

You can re-run the wizard at any time Navigate to SalesBuddy AI → Scan to re-run the catalog indexing. This is recommended whenever you add a large batch of new products to keep the chatbot’s knowledge base current.
