General & API Configuration

The General settings tab is the control center for your AI connections. Rather than locking you into a single provider, SalesBuddy AI acts as an agnostic router, allowing you to connect to the Large Language Model (LLM) that best suits your catalog size and budget.

Built-in API vs. Custom Keys

If you want to test the plugin immediately without setting up accounts elsewhere, simply toggle the Use Default API option. This taps into the SalesBuddy AI built-in relay, granting you 50 free high-quality requests.

For production stores, we strongly recommend bringing your own API key. You can select your AI Provider (such as OpenAI, Anthropic, or Gemini) and then specifically choose your AI Model. For instance, you could use a deeply intelligent model like claude-3.5-sonnet for complex contextual generation, or a faster, cheaper model for high-volume catalog rewriting. The Test Connection button allows you to instantly ping the provider to ensure your key is valid before attempting any bulk operations.

AI & Content Rules

Before launching the Bulk Generator, it is critical to lay down the formatting and personality rules. The AI & Content tab ensures that every product description generated feels unified and adheres to your specific brand voice.

Tone and Length Constraints

Under the core settings, you should select the Target Language ensuring all content maps to your local region (supporting EN, FR, ES, DE, IT, PT). You can then select a Writing Tone. Choosing “Luxury” will instruct the AI to use sophisticated, exclusive vocabulary, whereas “Enthusiastic” will result in high-energy, emojis-rich copy.

You can also define strict mathematical bounds using the Description Lengths. If your WooCommerce theme breaks when product descriptions exceed a certain size, setting the exact word maximums here guarantees the AI will never exceed your layout limitations.

💡
Mastering Custom Instructions (System Prompt) This is arguably the most powerful setting in the plugin. Custom Instructions allow you to inject global context into every single AI generation.

Seasonal Overrides: If the holidays are approaching, simply write: “We are currently running a Christmas promotion. Organically weave in festive themes and delicately mention that this is the perfect holiday gift.” Every new product generated will now dynamically adapt to your Christmas sprint without you changing the individual product prompts.

Brand Mandates: You can enforce rigid brand rules by writing: “Never use the word ‘cheap’, use ‘affordable’. Always highlight that our packaging is 100% biodegradable and eco-friendly.”

WooCommerce Integration

SalesBuddy AI deeply integrates into your existing WooCommerce product edit screens so you never have to leave the native editor. This tab lets you configure exactly which AI tools should be visible.

The Editor Interface Toggles allow you to show or hide the global “✦ Generate all” button (which rewrites the product from top to bottom) alongside the specific inline field generators. If you frequently add new stock from scratch, ensuring the “Create Product with AI” button is toggled on will allow you to generate an entire WooCommerce product skeleton using just a single descriptive sentence prompt.

Smart Sales Assistant Visibility

Deploying the chatbot to your storefront requires zero coding and absolutely no shortcodes. The Sales Assistant Settings tab serves as the global visibility controller for your automated agent.

To launch the assistant globally across your entire store, toggle the visibility to “Show on all pages”; the widget will safely inject itself into your site’s footer. However, if you prefer to only deploy the assistant in high-friction areas (to carefully preserve site-wide loading speeds or selectively target customers right before checkout), toggle the option to “Show on specific pages”. You can then use the smart search dropdown to explicitly restrict the chatbot so it only loads on the designated WordPress pages you select.

Competitor Intelligence Backend

The Competitor Intelligence module relies heavily on its ability to crawl competitor websites. This settings tab ensures that capability works smoothly, regardless of where your competitors are hosted.

By default, the analysis looks at 1 competitor URL. However, using the Max Competitor URLs dropdown, you can increase this limit to scrape up to 3 URLs simultaneously, returning a dense, competitive matrix. If you find that competitor websites are actively blocking your server’s scraping requests, simply enable the Scraping Proxy and insert your proxy API key. This routes all analysis connections through rotating IP addresses, seamlessly bypassing anti-bot walls.
